Our Favorite Places to Read in New Orleans

The People Room at Maple Street Book Shop on Maple Street in uptown New Orleans
Carol: I don't read much outside of my house
because I don't get to spend enough time at home in the first place, but if I were out somewhere with a book, there's the PJ's on Robert E. Lee that I worship out of gratitude just for installing a coffee shop in my neighborhood. Also, I love the Botanical Gardens at City Park, where one can read surrounded and inspired by weird tropicals, over-arching gingers, giant water lilies, and art deco sculpture.

Cindy: My favorite place to read is in my bedroom with a backrest and lots of pillows. I like a dark room with only a bedside lamp for light. I also love to read in the car (I'm the passenger). No distractions. A flashlight comes in handy at night.

Kevin: Sitting on the couch of the People Room in the Maple Street Book Shop, my feet propped up on a chair, is where you will find me reading. Reading here gives me the opportunity to browse through the book shop when my eyes get tired.
