Illustrator Jean Cassels signs Groundhog Stays Up Late

Betty Birney will present a program and sign her books The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs (new!!,) The World According to Humphrey (a middle-grades novel,) and The Friendship According to Humphrey (the sequel ).

The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs is built upon the author's experiences of growing up in Missouri.

Betty G. Birney has been putting words down on paper ever since she was a girl. In addition to writing 25 children's books, Birney has also worked on Emmy award-winning television shows such as Doug, Fraggle Rock, Dumbo's Circus, Welcome to Pooh Corner and many more. She also helped compile CD-ROM programs such as Bernstain Bears On Their Own.

Birney's hard work has been well-rewarded with multiple Emmy nominations for her work on an animated television series. She has also won three HUMANITAS prizes.

Fahnlohnee Harris, singer and actress, will sing African songs and perform storytelling, poetry, spirituals and selections from Broadway and opera.

Fahnlohnee Harris was born in West Africa and raised in the United States. She has apeared in such films as Runaway Jury and Ray and is a skilled performer whose knowledge extends into the history of African-American poets, composers, and actors.
